At 188 cm, a Double is genuinely short for a taller adult — you want clearance at the feet, not your exact height. If either of you is around 180 cm or more, the Queen's extra 15 cm of length is the bigger upgrade, not the width.
Stay with a Double if the room is tight, the bed is mostly for one person, or both sleepers are shorter.
Go Queen if two adults sleep in it every night, either of you is tall, or a child or pet regularly ends up in the bed.
Queen vs King
A King is 183 cm wide — 30 cm wider than a Queen — and exactly the same 203 cm length. So moving from Queen to King buys you width only.

A King is the better bed if you have the floor space. The catch is that the room has to take it — and King bedding, bases and headboards all cost more, so the upgrade is not just the mattress.
How much room does a Queen bed need?
