Two sisters who take sleep very seriously. Probably because one of us has never been very good at it.
Naptime started because sleep has always been a little personal for us.
Dakota has been a shocking sleeper since she was a kid. The kind who could lie awake for hours wondering how everyone else makes this whole falling asleep thing look so easy. Thirty years later, she’s still occasionally Googling “why can’t I sleep?” at 2am.
Shannon, on the other hand, loved sleep. Then she had kids.
Enough said.
Between the two of us, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about sleep, talking about sleep and trying just about everything to get more of it.
So back in 2012, in Capalaba, Queensland, we started Naptime with a pretty simple idea: make really good sleep products easier to buy, easier to understand and much harder to overpay for.
No mattress-store maze. No confusing sales talk. No wondering whether you’ve just paid an extra $1,000 for a fancy showroom.
Just good sleep stuff, without the runaround.
How we do things
We design our mattresses here in Australia and have them made to our own specifications by specialist manufacturers. Then we sell them straight to you.
That means no franchise mark-ups, no commission-driven sales pitch and no salesperson following you around while you awkwardly pretend to sleep on a mattress under fluorescent lights. Just good mattresses, fair prices and everything you need for a better night’s sleep.
Today, Naptime is rated 4.7★ on Google from more than 700 reviews. We’re still a family business, still based in Capalaba and still packing your orders from our own warehouse. We’ve grown a bit since 2012. The reason we’re here hasn’t really changed.

It follows you into the next morning. Your coffee. Your patience. Your concentration. And sometimes anyone unfortunate enough to ask you a question before 8am.
That’s why we care about the little things.
We want choosing a mattress to feel simple. We want you to know exactly what you’re buying and why it might suit you. And most importantly, we want you to actually look forward to getting into bed.
Because when someone messages us to say they’re finally sleeping better?
That still makes our day.
You’ll spot Zee hanging around here too. He’s our lavender mascot, resident sleep nerd and a little nod to the zZ in Naptime.
His job is basically to remind all of us to switch off every now and then.
